As the president of the New England Chapter of Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (NEURISA), I would like to keep you informed on what's new with NEURISA this year.

What's New?

  1. NEURISA's annual one-day conference will be held on October 3rd, 2011 at Old Sturbridge Village in Sturbridge MA, the same location where we had the annual conference last year, which was very successful and well attended. Please mark your calendar. More information will be made available later on in the year on our website (www.neurisa.org), and through email announcements.
  2. This is the first year that NEURISA is introducing the NEURISA Special Achievement Award program. The nomination process is now open and the nomination form is available on the web site. Please take the time to recognize GIS or IT professionals you know who have made a significant contribution to an organization or a community by nominating them for the NEURISA Special Achievement Award.
  3. This year NEURISA is the coordinating sponsor of the Ignite Spatial Boston Event, which Guido Stein organizes and has run successfully for the past two years. The 5-minute presentations at this annual event have sparked many conversations in the past. This year it will be on March 24th in Cambridge MA. It's time to get your ideas out there. Submit a presentation or just attend the event and be inspired. Check the Ignite Boston event site at http://www.ispatialboston.com for more information. If your company is interested in sponsoring this event, please get in touch with us.
  4. NEURISA is also planning for the very first Ignite event in Hartford CT in the 2nd quarter of this year. If you would like to give a 5-minute presentation, please get in touch with our event coordinator and board member Randi Pickford. Details will be out shortly on the website.
  5. In addition to the Blogs and Forums from our website, NEURISA now has a presence on Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook . More ways for our members to communicate and share information.
  6. More events are being planned through out the year. Stay tuned.
